In early June 2019, the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev will give concerts in Berlin and Dresden. Performances will be held in the framework of the program of the international cultural project "Russian Seasons" in Germany and the Dresden Music Festival.
On June 3, at the Great Hall of the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Orchestra will perform the Concerto for Orchestra No. 1 “Naughty Limericks” by Rodion Shchedrin, the Cello Concerto No. 2 in G, Op. 126 by Dmitri Shostakovich (soloed by German cellist Jan Vogler), Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
On June 5, the musicians will present "Prometheus: The Poem of Fire", Op. 60, and "Poem of Ecstasy", Op. 54 by Alexander Scriabin, along with the local chorus and winner of international competitions, pianist Ilya Rashkovsky, as well as Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36.
Both concerts are part of the program of the well-known Dresden Music Festival (http://www.musikfestspiele.com/), one of the largest annual events in Germany that brings together leading performers of classical music from around the globe. Since 2009, cellist Jan Vogler has been the Art Director of the project.
